this adorable character baby boy doll. The doll has a bisque head with a jointed composition body. He has very detailed facial features which include right blue stationary eyes, slightly rosy cheeks with dimples, dimpled chin, and parted lips to show two front teeth. The head is completed with a light brown short hair wig. The back of the head is marked with the Morimura Brothers hallmark with Japan underneath it and the mold number 22 is marked above the hallmark. Morimura Brothers was in business from 1876 to 1941 and was a Japanese import house based in New York City, NY. They supplied bisque head German-like dolls to the American market during WWI until 1926. They imported 2 types of dolls; character babies and dolly faced dolls.
This doll is a character baby doll and has a jointed chubby body which is jointed at the hips and shoulders. Strings are tight and the joints move easily. The doll wears a nice, sheer dress with embroidered flowers around the bottom hem and collar. The outfit is completed with a matching slip and underpants. Unsure if the clothes are original to the doll or not. Dates to the 1920s. This cute doll would make a great addition to any antique or vintage doll collection!
Three fingers have broken off of one hand. Light staining is on the arms and feet. Head is free of chips and cracks. Light wear from age. Overall in VERY GOOD condition. Please refer to the photos for the absolute best details.
Measures 16" tall, 5" wide at the shoulders and 3 1/2" from the tip of the nose to the back of the head.
