    Description

Antique Bye-Lo Baby composition doll made in 1922 by Grace Putnum. Doll is not in great condition, but I've owned it fifty 50 yrs. and it was distressed then. Bye-Lo Baby, 14" long with her legs curled up like a newborn, has sat on my fainting couch in her original outfit of her christening gown only, without any booties. Her body is stuffed, her head is plaster/compostion with molded on hair,  therefore very cracked. Can be repaired at a Doll Hospital. Upon searching for antiques, I had read about, The Bye-Lo Baby because she actually was so popular when she was made in1922, she was called, "The Million dollar Baby" because Grace became a millionaire once her creation hit the stores. Grace had wanted to make a real life looking infant doll, not a pretty baby, so she went to a Foundling Home and found a new born baby with a scrunched up face, drew her picture, sculpted it and the rest is history.
