Description
Antique Composition Puppet Wearing A KiltIn 1893 the USA was rising up in power and
passed a law that all imports were to be stamped
with their country of origin.
Other less prominent countries stamped their
products with a simple "FORGEIN" stamp.
This continued until 1923 when countries
had to start using their actual names or
makers marks.
Our Puppet doll is stamped with "FOREIGN"
on the bottom so we estimate him to have
been made between 1893 and 1923.
He appears to be a composition made piece.
In leu of legs, he has a fabric wrapped tube
glued to a cardboard bottom resembling feet.
There is a string that slightly moves his left hand.
We barely moved it as we didn't want to chance
damaging the doll or string.
He measures approximately 6.5" tall.
Hat has come unglued to the dolls head.
Part of the coating and paint has chipped
