Antique Doyle & Co. Childrens Toy Glass "Hobnail" Electric Blue Glass Mug
Antique EAPG Childs Mug c. 1900.
Nice Electric Blue color mug in "Hobnail with Notched Handle". Nice greenish glow under black light.
Measures 3" tall x 3 3/4" wide to handle x 2 1/5" across the top.
2 part mold with excess glass at the seams. Pattern is crisp in detail.
I put a black light to the glass and it does fluoresce some. All my children's Toy Glass is for display and not for children to play with....different age we live in!
Has a chips around the top rim, see photos. One photo looks like a crack but it is a scratch magnified..Not a crack.
Typical edge roughness. The hobnails are in pretty good condition with some roughness to edges.
A word about ALL Children's Toy Glass: It was not made with high quality controls. These were "play things" for children so you will most likely find surfaces scratches, chigger bites, tiny chips, etc. from use.
There are some lines and some roughness on the edges of all pieces from the molding process as is typical of some truly old toy glass sets.
You will some times find bubbles in the glass, striation in the glass, extra glass as molds wear out and was not cleaned up after being pressed into a mold, rough edges, cloudy glass, with a few exceptions of good quality like Sandwich Glass Co. These are identified as Factory Flaws. A lot of Glass Companies quality control production was higher than others.
Breaks & cracks are a different story & will be addressed as damage.
