This is a wonderful 20" doll, she was purchased in Spain by my grandparents and given to my mom in 1942 when she was a little girl. The doll came with the family to Cuba in the late 1940's and Mom brought her to USA with her when she had to come to Miami as a refugee. Quite a story! She is made of Early Spanish composition, also called " Cartón Piedra", all jointed, and those joints work fine, including her head. She has blond curly wig, that has a cartoon cap where you can open and fix the eyes or replace them. They need to be balanced but those are her original 80 years old eyes. They are big brown Spanish sleep eyes with real eyelashes. Her face colors are great, fresh and crisp as her body color. She has two cute dimples and a red lips open mouth with 4 teeth showing. The eyebrows are masterly done, and they look real. Only is one pinky finger the composition has scratch somewhat but the finger is there not broken. She has a non-working crier box too.
Her outfit is all original, with fancy white long socks and ALPARGATAS, the shoes worn by the country people. Her dress is also original and is complete and closes back with bobby pins, she also wears white musselin long undies. One detail that I can not skip to mention is that she is holding in her hand a white handerckerchiel with ecru lace margins , that detail is also original to the doll it has not been reattached to her hand again. She is more like the Mariquita Perez of the 1940's, one doll that competed with her in the Spanish market. She is not marked.
The Least I could say is that she is adorable, authentic and a very old doll in great condition with a lot of stories to tell.
