Pair of Large Antique 28” & 26” Composition Boudoir Bed Dolls
Here we have a pair of antique Boudoir Dolls that were made for the bedroom, sofa, or fainting couch and were considered decorations. They are also called bed dolls, flapper dolls, and French dolls. These boudoir dolls were made from approximately the 1920’s through the 1940’s. No matter what, these dolls will make a fantastic addition to anyone’s collection!
More Information:
Since boudoir dolls were made to sit on their owners’ bed, they are larger in size. These dolls are approximately 28” and 26” respectively. Both dolls have composition/papier-mache heads, chests, and hands. Both dolls have cloth bodies & partial cloth extremities.
The 28” doll has cloth feet with slip-on shoes and the 26” doll has composition/paper-mache lower limbs with molded shoes. Each come with the clothing you see in the photos but I have no way of knowing if it’s the original clothing. Each doll has glued/tacked on hair and the 26” doll has a hair net.
Condition:
Antique, vintage Condition!
Both dolls are old and show appropriate age, wear, and minor damage for their antique condition. Each doll shows cracks, chips, and overall blemishes on the composition/paper-mache head and extremities. Each doll has some smudges, cracks and missing chips on the painted heads and extremities. The clothing is intact but there are some missing stitches, especially on the undergarments. Each dolls glued hair is coming off the head, showing bald spots and spaces. The 26” doll has a hairnet that has lose elasticity and there is a straight pin on the top of the head helping hold the hair in place.
Both dolls are fragile and not recommended as toys. There are no unpleasant odors and both dolls come from a pet and smoke free environment. As with any item that has been owned by someone prior, even if the item’s condition is brand new and never used, anyone looking for additional defects may find them, so we cannot guarantee this is 100% blemish free!
