The Institute acquired the ten-acre Walter Phelps Warren estate in 1905, making it possible to establish a real campus. The Warren House was converted into a student dormitory in 1907 and remained the only campus housing until 1916, when the Quadrangle Dormitories were built. The Warren house was officially named the Campus Dormitory by a resolution of the Board of Trustees in 1916.
